Idag lanserar vi SFS CV-databas!

Som ett led i fokus på nästa karriär startar Spelarföreningarna i Sverige, Norge och Finland ett samarbete kring ett CV- projekt för fotbollsspelare som baseras på den danska Job4player modellen. CV-databasen kommer att ge information om fotbollsspelarnas tillgångar gentemot arbetsmarknaden för framtida arbetsgivare.

– En CV-databas är viktigt av många skäl, till att börja med är det ett viktigt sätt att belysa idrottarnas speciella egenskaper som de har utvecklat genom sina karriärer och kunna översätta detta till ett CV anpassat för arbetsmarknaden. För heltidsprofessionella kommer det att bli ett viktigt verktyg när de börjar förberedelser inför en ny karriär. Vi ser också den grupp av medlemmar som är semiprofessionella och behöver ett deltidsjobb vid sidan av deras fotbollskarriär som viktiga användare av databasen. Som elitidrottare har du många kvaliteter som är eftertraktade inom arbetslivet. Du har bland annat disciplin, engagemang, passion och är en målinriktad lagspelare. Säger Magnus Erlingmark, Generalsekreterare, SFS.

Nordic countries launch CV-database

The Players Unions in Sweden, Norway and Finland are working together in a CV-project for footballers based on the Danish Job 4 Player model. The CV-database will provide information about footballers assets on the job market for future employers. – This is an important tool for the players preparing for a second career, says Joachim Walltin President of the Norwegian Players Union.

The three Players Unions met in Oslo in February to prepare the launch of the database. The Unions have already started testing the database. Before the launch the countries have between 15 and 25 entries each in their CV-databases.

– Our experience is already very positive although we have just started. This tool is important for the preparations for a job after a career in sports, but also very important for the players with years left of their playing career. By filling out the CV they get awareness of their own standing due to their education and other job related experience. By focusing on the goal for your next career, you have to start thinking about how to get there, says Walltin.

The CV-database will provide athletes to the Unions` partners and cooperating companies. Experience from Job 4 Player in Denmark, show that this is good for all parties. With an entry in the CV-database, players rise their stakes for finding a relevant job.

– The CV-database is important for many reasons, to begin with, it is an important way to highlight the athletes’ special characteristics that they have developed through their careers and to adapt this into writing a CV. For fulltime professionals it will be an important tool when they start preparingfor  a new career. We also see the group of members who are semi-professional and need a part time job beside their football career as important users of the database, Magnus Erlingmark Secretary General at Spelarforeningen (SFS), says.

In Finland JPY (Jalkapallon pelaajayhdistys) has already started building the CV-database and they have approached potential partners for the project.

– We have had the chance to include our board members, who all still are active players, into the system and we have given them a chance to get to know the CV-system.  We have also invited unemployed players to sign in before the official kick-off. JPY has negotiated with DHL for joining the project as a main partner.  It is a great honour that a well-known international company  is interested to take care of the players future, Markus Juhola, President of JPY, says.

 

After the players fill out their CV someone from the Players Union go through the document and give the players advice on how they can edit the CV to make it even better. Career planning will also be a part of this program.

– We have an own career advisor that will work together with the players who want guidance on how to achieve their goals. The CV will be an important tool for the career advisor, says Joachim Walltin.
